WCDS students and chaperones had a fantastic time hitting the slopes in Canaan Valley, WV, last week during Winter Break.
“Houses, ski slopes, rental equipment, and the staff at Canaan Valley were just outstanding. We had so much fun—great weather and great food!” said Rebekka Korte after her first time organizing and chaperoning the event.
Eight students, who were absolute beginners on the slopes, took ski lessons the first day, and all students were able to join the more advanced skiers and snowboarders that same afternoon on all other slopes.
The group of twenty-two made the most of their trip by enjoying winter sports every day, 10am-4:30pm.
“I’ve never in my life spent so much time actively outside in snow as today,” remarked one excited skier.
The travelers closed each day of winter fun by gathering together at one of their rental homes, “The Great Escape,” to prepare and savor a large dinner together.
The week’s menu included chicken tikka masala with rice, noodles, and vegetables, drumsticks, bratwurst, tacos, and burritos, and every morning they feasted on a hearty, buffet style breakfast to ready them for another action-packed day on the mountain.
