Athletics

Mens sana in corpore sano – a sound mind in a sound body.  This is a primary dictum of Wakefield Country Day School.  Every student, beginning in PreSchool, participates multiple times weekly in organized Physical Education Classes.

When Middle School starts, student-athletes begin to participate as players, practicing every day on the school teams, and competing in the Valley Middle School Conference.  At the Junior Varsity and Varsity level, practices are held each day, and competitive teams continue to hone their athletic skills, competing weekly at home and away.

We have a grand history of many Conference Championships and are very proud of our students who go on to become college athletes, all while keeping to our principle of remaining humble in victory and gracious in defeat.

WCDS fields Girls Volleyball, Boys Soccer, Girls Cross Country, Boys Cross Country, Girls Basketball, Boys Basketball, Co-ed Alpine Skiing, Girls Soccer and Boys Lacrosse teams.  WCDS is accredited by the Virginia Independent School Athletic Association and overseen by our Athletic Director.
