Wakefield Country Day School would like to honor our WCDS family members -- alumni and parents -- who are out there battling on the front-line during this unprecedented COVID19 global pandemic.
Today we honor Kimberly Pankow of Flint Hill, VA. A 2014 WCDS graduate, who after receiving dual degrees from Virginia Tech in Health & Nutrition and Physiology in 2017, went on to earn her BSN in Nursing from Shenandoah University.
Kim is currently working as a nurse in the emergency department at Winchester Medical Center. While in high school, Kim was a star volleyball player and captain of her team. 
She was integral to the five back-to-back championships the team won, playing in the position of libero, where she was best known for her back-row attacks, before moving into the setter position to round out her career. Today, rather than zooming across the court and scoring aces against her opponents, Kim can be found behind a mask and in full PPE in Winchester, Virginia, at the Winchester Medical Center, part of the Valley Health healthcare system. “Working in the emergency department is both stressful and rewarding, but it’s my honor to help the community during this pandemic,” says Kim.
