Sports Recap 5/3

MS Lacrosse

The Owls hosted Sacred Heart Academy for a game on 5/2/18.   The Owls were effective on both ends of the field in a 11-5 victory over the Saints.  Manoa Weber struck net first for the Owls in the first 30 seconds assisted by Maddox Lowe. Weber scored again a minute later.  The Saints scored with 6:23 remaining in the first period and again with 28 seconds to go to tie the score. Maddox Lowe put the Owls ahead for good with a goal in the last five seconds of the period.  Jaden Johnson got into the scoring column for the first time this season, four minutes into the second period assisted by Alex Phillippe.  Maddox Lowe again scored in the last ten seconds of the period to give the Owls a 5-2 halftime lead.  Alex Diehl scored in the first thirty seconds of the third period followed by Manoa Weber’s third goal a minute later for a hat trick. With 6:45 left in the period Maddox Lowe got his third goal off a nice assist from Alex Diehl to complete a hat trick. Alex Phillippe scored, assisted by Maddox Lowe with 5:13 remaining in the quarter.  The Saints scored their third goal with 31 seconds left, and the Owls led 9-3 entering the final period. Coach Weber was mixing line-ups to allow different players to play the attack positions. The Saints scored twice in a two minute period to make the score 9-5.  Manoa Weber scored a goal with 2:15 left that was assisted by Alex Phillippe.  Weber scored the final goal just over a minute later, and the Owls got the 11-5 victory.  Our record is 5-1 on the season.

In a home game against Sacred Heart Academy, #22 Manoa Weber fights for the ball and trailing him is #1 Alexis Cross. #12 Maddox Lowe also moves in for support. The Owls won, 11-5.

JV Girls Soccer

The Lady Owls (the middle school team mixed with the varsity girls on the COED Soccer Club team) hosted the Front Royal Flames for a JV game on 5/1/18.    The game was very even in the first half with both teams getting good shots on goal. Arella Nagel netted a goal on a ball that had rebounded off the Flames’ keeper with 8:45 left in the first half.  The Flames scored a goal in the last 10 seconds of the half on a ball that also rebounded off the keeper. Both teams got good shots in the second half, and both keepers made nice saves, but there were no goals scored the rest of the game.  The result was a 1-1 tie.   Our record is 0-0-1.
