With Wakefield Country Day School students returning for their fourth full week of classes, the new school year has already shown promise and opportunities.
Exciting additions include new faculty members in the mathematics department and Jenny La Rotta in the Spanish language department. Students are also anticipating trips outside the classroom with a freshmen-sophomore ski trip and a middle-school trip to England planned over winter break.
Fresh faces from around the world bring unique perspectives to the halls of WCDS.
Caden, a junior at Wakefield, shares,
"I like making new friends with our students from different countries, and love being on sports teams with them. Hearing about their experience being at WCDS actually allows me to see things with fresh eyes, and really appreciate my school and community."
This year WCDS is proud to welcome students from Spain, Afghanistan, Italy, China, and El Salvador.
The year also brings exciting campus improvements, including new high school clubs like the AI Club and Investing Club, as well as major upgrades to the gymnasium and a complete playground renovation.
"WCDS has had an excellent start to the new year," says John Elmore, Head of School. "It is great to see all the campus improvements, and the tone set by the teachers and the leadership of the student body make the campus positive and engaging."
