For the first time in the team's 50+ year history, the Wakefield Country Day School Varsity Boys' Soccer team in Huntly qualified for the state championships.
These athletes showed up and showed out in every conference and non-conference game, securing their spot as the Division III 12th seed in the VISAA State Tournament. Despite falling to the fifth seed team, WCDS had an exceptional run, wrapping up the season with an impressive penalty kick goal from senior Alfredo Martinez.
Alfredo Martinez, WCDS senior, recognized on Senior Night for his contributions to the team and its many successes.
"The soccer season was an amazing time," remarked Coach Nile Patel. "The boys and I set an ambitious goal, and being able to achieve it was a joy. I'm proud I could coach the first boys' soccer team to go to states. Even though we fell in the first round, we know what to do to go farther next year."
