Wakefield Country Day School’s (WCDS) middle school boys’ flag football team faced a fast and competitive squad from John Paul the Great Montessori Academy in an impressive all-around performance on March 31 at home.
Wakefield opened the game with a strong first drive, as eighth grader Jordan Dechabert connected with sixth grader Liam Carter for a touchdown. The team successfully converted the two-point attempt to take an early 8-0 lead. On the following possession, sixth grader Julian Dechabert recorded an interception, giving Wakefield excellent field position. The offense capitalized quickly, with Jordan Dechabert finding fellow eighth grader Jett Anderson for another touchdown, extending the lead to 16-0.
The Wakefield defense continued to set the tone, forcing another stop and regaining possession. Anderson then added to the scoring effort, throwing a touchdown pass to sixth grader Ian Colton, giving Wakefield a 22-0 advantage heading into halftime.
In the second half, Wakefield maintained its momentum. After another defensive stop, Anderson connected with Jordan Dechabert for his first receiving touchdown of the game. The team continued to dominate on both sides of the ball, converting on every offensive possession. To close out the game, Julian Dechabert added three touchdown passes to Jordan Dechabert, capping off a commanding 50-6 victory.
With the win, the WCDS middle school boys flag football team improves to 3-0 on the season, and has outscored opponents 142-36, demonstrating their strength and consistency on both offense and defense.
