Silver Bell and Jon Lee Memorial Silver Bucket Games

The Owls hosted their first Silver Bell Volleyball game pitting the Alumni vs. the current players on December 26th.  The following Alumni participated: Maeve Dale, Anna Clark, Ben Cotter, Woody Hazel, Sarah Hazel, Andrew Kwolek, Hannah Tufts, and Tatumn Vaught. The current players who participated were: Rachel Cieplak, Lucy Clark, Hannah Burak, Liza Dareing, Gwynn Major, Mari Tisera, and Bea Youngquist.   The format was best of three sets to 21 points.

The first set was back and forth as back-to-back kills by Maeve Dale cut the current players’ lead to 12-11.  A kill by Hannah Tufts tied it at 15-15, and Tufts rotated into the service position serving  five straight points including two aces for a 20-15 lead.  The current players ripped off seven straight points during Lucy Clark’s serve to win the set, 22-20.   The current Owls controlled the second set with the following players all serving up aces: Rachel Cieplak, Gwynn Major, Mari Tisera, and Bea Youngquist. Mari Tisera served four of the last five points in the set and match as the current Owls went on to a second set 20-13 win and a 2-0 sweep.  Everyone seemed to have fun, and it was a very successful event. Our thanks go out to Coach Zylonis and Coach Costello for officiating the match. Also thanks go out to Alumnus Tyler Johnson who  handled the scoreboard for the match.

A New Tradition, The Silver Bell Alumni Volleyball Game

The longstanding annual Jon Lee Memorial Silver Bucket Basketball game pitted Alumni from 2016 and newer along with current players on the Green Team vs. Alumni pre-2016 on the Orange Team. The following Alumni played in the game: Sean Brown, Daniel Chadduck, Joe Dowell, Alex Foster, Woody Hazel, Gage Landis, Chris O’Heir, Conor O’Heir, and  Michael O’Heir.

The current/former players who participated were: Jeremy Kwolek, John Mullins, and Martin O’Heir. Additionally Matthew O’Neill played with the Green Team.  Graduates Gage Landis and Chris O’Heir played on the Green Team to balance the rosters. Team Orange had a 4-0 lead after one quarter in the low scoring game; however, the game was tied, 11-11, at the half. Team Orange regained the lead in the third quarter, 23-17. Team Green outscored the Alumni 9-6 in the final quarter, but the Alumni in Orange held on for a 29-26 win.  Alex Foster led Team Orange with 14 points.  Daniel Chadduck scored six points. Michael O’Heir scored five points, and Woody Hazel and Martin O’Heir (filling in until two more Alumni arrived) also scored baskets for the Orange Team.  The Green Team was led by John Mullins with seven points followed by Sean Regan who nailed two three-point baskets for six points. Matthew O’Neil added six points also. Jeremy Kwolek, Chris O’Heir, and Martin O’Heir also scored for Team Green. It was a good, fun, close game, and many current families and Alumni families attended the games. We want to thank Coach Dick and Tom Shafran for officiating the game, Coach Costello for managing game operations, and Alumnus Tyler Johnson for running the scoreboard.  A big thank you goes out to Laura Carter for handling the food, beverages, and door prizes.  It was a good time for all. GO OWLS!
