Wakefield Country Day School is offering 4 weeks of summer programs for 3-year-olds through 12th-grade students this summer.

Camp tuition is due in full at the time of enrollment. If camp is canceled for any reason, your fee will be returned. On-campus space is extremely limited and is offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

All About Robotics

July 11-15
  • Teacher: Lyndsey Pheister
  • Location: On Campus
  • Participants: Preschool-1st Grade
  • Hours: 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
  • Cost: $325
  • Does your child’s imagination run wild about all things robotic? In this camp we will play with lots of different robots and learn how they work. Each day, campers will get to experiment and play with robots designed for this age group and play games that teach us how different robot parts work. In addition to learning about actual robots, we will read robot stories and campers will have time to let their own imaginations run wild to design their very own cardboard robot creation.

LEGO Camp

July 11-15
  • Teacher: Nikki Brady
  • Location: On Campus
  • Participants: 2nd-5th Grade
  • Hours: 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
  • Cost: $325
  • Join me for a week of projects using LEGOS! I will challenge all campers to be creative, and inventive. LEGO challenges will be presented for students to complete individually, or in pairs. After building all morning long, we will head outside for some fun in the sun!

Basketball Camp

July 11-15
  • Teacher: Brett Jordan
  • Location: On Campus
  • Participants: 5th-9th Grade
  • Hours: 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
  • Cost: $325
  • Come on out to WCDS for a week of skills, drills and have BUCKETS OF FUN! This camp will be led by Brett Jordan, a former varsity basketball athlete. Brett will help players of all skill sets develop and improve their basketball skills. Boys and girls will learn fundamentals, teamwork and good sportsmanship all while having a great time. Bring lunch, water, and a towel. Each participant receives a tshirt with camp. Boys and girls 5th through 9th grade.

Film and Photography Camp

July 18-22

  • Location: On Campus
  • Participants: Rising 6th-9th Grade
  • Hours: 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

  • Learn how to film and take amazing photos! Student taught by WCDS yearbook and film students, spend a week learning about stop motion videos, screenwriting and filmography.

Robotics and Intro to Coding

July 18-22
  • Teacher: Lyndsey Pheister
  • Location: On Campus
  • Participants: Rising 1st-5th Grade
  • Hours: 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
  • Cost: $325
  • This camp is for kids that are fascinated by computers, robots and/or engineering! We will work on two activities each day. In the mornings we’ll focus on the basics of coding and try our hands at different coding challenges using Scratch and Scratch Junior. In the afternoons, campers will work in groups to put those skills to good use using the Lego We-do and Spike building kits. In between coding and robotic challenges, we’ll fill our time with games, technology dissection, crafts and try our hand at making our own robot parts.

Exploring Nature

July 25-29

  • Participants: Preschool-1st
  • Hours: 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
  • Cost: $325
  • Designed specifically for early Ed, this camp will include outdoor nature exploration with an investigation into the natural world with a lot of water fun. Learn some German too! Camp activities include but are not limited to; nature crafts, beading, weaving, baking, painting and playing in the sprinkler or a slip and slide and much, more! Students are encouraged to explore the world around them and have the option to put their observations and findings into creative and individual creations!

Animation Basics

July 25-29
  • Teacher: Lyndsey Pheister
  • Location: On Campus
  • Participants: Rising 1st-5th Grade
  • Hours: 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
  • Cost: $325
  • In this camp, campers will get to see their imagination come to life! In the mornings we will work on stop motion animation and skill building. Kids can experiment with Claymation, flip book, Lego, pixilation and cut paper animation techniques. In the afternoons, campers will work collaboratively to brainstorm story ideas, starting with shorts and evolving into stories with longer plots. In between activities, we’ll look at other animators for inspiration and take lots of breaks for fun, games, and crafts to be used in our animations.

DC Museums Field Trip Camp

July 25-29 (FULL - REGISTRATION CLOSED)
  • Location: Meet on campus, travel to DC
  • Participants: 8th-12th Grade
  • Hours: 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
  • Cost: $325
  • Take a day and explore one or two museums per day in beautiful nation’s capital. Itinerary to follow.
