This weekend is officially a Homework-Free Weekend for Middle and Upper Schoolers. We encourage all students to enjoy a stress-free weekend to recharge those batteries!
“Good homework should be challenging, but not so hard that it is discouraging. Students feel much more positive about their homework if they can complete it in a reasonable amount of time." Jonathan Chein
In the next two weeks, the Middle and Upper School will be initiating discussions among their departments about what "effective homework" really is in their respective disciplines.
We are participating in the November 12th survey by the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) which will be used for "gathering data about the attitudes, perceptions, and beliefs of students about their schoolwork, the school learning environment, and their interaction with the school community." Trish Mullins, Upper School English Teacher will spearhead the distribution of this survey.
