International Day is held each year in November. It is a celebration of the sights, sounds, tastes and wonders of other countries. As a special day set aside in an entire week focused on international cultures, it celebrates not only the students who visit us from around the world, coming to study for a year or more at Wakefield Country Day School, but also the various traditions and cultures of our entire community.Through the efforts of teachers, parents and students, approximately 20 countries are represented each year, and students are able to take their “passports” to each country’s display, playing games, making simple crafts, learning important facts about the culture, history, and geography of the country, and, of course, sampling the wide and tasty variety of foods lovingly prepared by our international students and WCDS families.
